Hello again!
Not a whole lot happened today actually!
Got up nice and early today for the Holland-Denmark game which started at 1:30pm. With the trouble with the park and rides, I purchased a ticket for the park and walk. It was about 2 miles from the stadium, but I didn't want to worry about catching buses back to cars and things like that.
On the short drive over, we actually saw a tiny car full of Dutch fans. There were actually 8 of them in a tiny car. There were 5 in the back and 3 in the front. After passing them, we slowed down so we could take a picture.
We parked just fine and Aghas, Mallory and I started our walk to the Stadium. We started out with just two tickets, but since we needed 3 total, we started asking groups of people if they had extras at all. We found a group of Danish fans leaving the parking lot, and they actually had one to sell. Face Value was $160, but we got it for $100
Since it was the Danes who helped us out, Mallory took it upon herself to become Danish for the day! She did this by buying a Denmark t-shirt and getting a Danish flag painted on her cheek.
Our seats were pretty high up but in the middle. Up there it was kind of like playing the FIFA Soccer video games because the players seemed about the same size as they do on the TV screen!
After halftime, we went down to the lower section where Mallory was an we snuck in while the guys at the top of the aisle had their attention momentarily elsewhere. These seats were much better as you can see...
For a bit of fun, I actually wore my Sweden jersey to the game. The Danish were quite friendly about this, which was a good thing. The best part of that, is that after I got down into the lower section, i just climbed into an empty seat and looked to my left. There was a Swede there also wearing a Sweden jersey. He was from Stockholm and was a Djurgarden supporter.... just the kind of guy I wanted to hang out with.
Holland ended up winning 2-0 and are taking a good step towards getting out of their group. I'd be really surprised if they don't win their group - the two other teams they play are Cameroon and Japan.
Tomorrow is another game for me: Brazil - North Korea. I wouldn't be surprised if Brazil put 5 past them, but this is the World Cup and you never know.
An animated recreation of England's first match against the USA - in LEGO's!
